Reunion History

In 1992, Robert E. Puryear, the oldest son of the late Mr. Lucious Puryear, Jr. and Mrs. Armintha Reed Puryear, had a vision for a grand, combined family reunion.  Consequently, the first Reed & Puryear Family Reunion was organized and held in Senatobia, Mississippi on July 2 - 4, 1992, uniting the descendants of Bill & Sarah Reed and Edward & Julie Puryear.  Pleas Reed’s daughter, Armintha, married into the Puryear Family, and also Pleas’s son, Leonard Reed, married Lucious’s sister, Gladys Lydia Puryear.  From these two unions birthed the idea of Reed & Puryear Family Reunion. Previous Reed Family Reunions had been held and organized by the late Mr. Enos Reed, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Enos was the son of the late Pleas Reed and the grandson of Bill & Sarah Reed.
